Welcome to our trip to Washington DC. Sit back, relax and let us do the driving. Pick up locations and times will be announced before trip departs: Friday, October 22... We will depart in the morning. We will be stopping along the way for rest and meal breaks before arriving at our hotel. We will have dinner and a relaxing evening. Saturday, October 23... Breakfast will be at the hotel and then we will have a full day of touring with a guide. We will stop at the Arlington Cemetery to see the grounds on the Tourmobile, including the Women in Military Memorial. You will view one of the larges bronze statues, the Marine Corps War Memorial's Iwo Jima Statue. Then we will visit the White House Visitors Center, where you can take photos of the White House. You will then have time to have lunch on your own in Union Square. After lunch, we will travel to Embassy Row, drive by National Cathedral, see the new Air Force Memorial and return to downtown for a driving tour of Capitol Hill. We will then stop at the National Archives to see the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Dinner will be on Capitol Hill followed by a guided tour of the illuminated monuments and memorials, including FDR and Jefferson. We will also view the city from the terrace of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. After all of this we will be good and tired, we will return to the hotel for a good nights rest. Sunday, October 24th... After breakfast at the hotel, we will head downtown to the National Mall and see the new World War II, Vietnam, Lincoln and Korean War Veterans Memorials. We will then go to the Smithsonian Institution, where you will browse through the 19 museums at your leisure and have lunch on your own, with a choice of several restaurants in the complex. Afterwards, we will return to the hotel for dinner and relax for the evening. Monday, October 25th... After breakfast, we will check out of the hotel and proceed to the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum located near Washington Dulles International Airport. You will have plenty of time to explore all of the different parts of the museum. One of the most popular features is the Donald D. Engen Tower, which gives you a 360 degree birds eye view of the airport. Afterwards, we will depart for home and will make rest and meal stops on the way. |
